NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested on Monday in connection to the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old woman outside of her New Jersey apartment last week, prosecutors said, as court documents alleged he had a "step-by-step" plan to kill her.
Following an investigation, detectives found that David C. Shroitman, 27, was allegedly responsible for the fatal stabbing of Mary Rose Fealey, 27.
The stabbing happened on Jan. 30, at around 10 p.m. Cops received a 911 call about an unresponsive woman outside of an apartment on North Bridge Street, Somerville, and arrived at the scene.
They found Fealey with multiple stab wounds and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A postmortem examination on Feb. 1 by the Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death as "multiple stab wounds" and ruled the manner of death as homicide.
On Feb. 4, investigators obtained a search warrant for Shroitman's residence and his car. They found that Shroitman had allegedly written a manifesto in his apartment "laying out a step-by-step" plan to kill Fealey, according to NJ.com who cited an affidavit of probable cause.
Investigators also found blood at Shroitman's apartment, and his car doused in bleach before arresting him, according to the affidavit.
Additionally, investigators discovered the victim and the suspect knew each other but did not give details about their relationship.
Later that day, Shroitman was arrested.
On Monday, he was charged with first degree murder, possession of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence and hindering apprehension.
The investigation is ongoing.
