NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A New Jersey man was charged with murder in the death of his former girlfriend, who was found dead in Tennessee after she and her toddler son went missing last week, sparking an AMBER Alert that was canceled after the boy was found safe.

Tyler Rios, 27, was charged with first-degree murder, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday.

Rios was previously charged with first-degree kidnapping after he was arrested and his 2-year-old son Sebastian Rios was found safe in Tennessee on Saturday.

Authorities continued to search for the boy’s mother, 24-year-old Yasmine Uyar, after the father and son were found. Her body was soon located in a wooded area off of I-40 in Tennessee, some 800 miles from her New Jersey home, prosecutors said.

An AMBER Alert was issued last Friday after Sebastian Rios didn’t show up for daycare and his mother didn’t arrive for scheduled work shifts. A welfare check was conducted on Uyar's home by members of the Rahway Police Department Friday morning, but no one was found inside. That sparked a multi-agency search for the mom and son, including local, state and federal law enforcement.
