TRENTON (1010 WINS) -- New Jersey on Saturday reported the most coronavirus cases in one day since the start of the pandemic.
The state reported 4,395 new cases, surpassing the April 17 total of 4,391 new cases during the spring peak.
Essex County saw the most new cases at 648. There were 402 new cases in Bergen County and 397 new cases in Passaic County.
"These numbers are alarming and concerning, to say the least. Wear a mask. Social distance. Stay safe," Gov. Phil Murphy tweeted.
The state also reported 26 more deaths, bringing its death toll to 14,747, not including 1,801 probable deaths.
There were 2,000 people hospitalized Saturday, including 370 in intensive care and 134 on ventilators.
The high case total came after new restrictions went into effect in New Jersey on Thursday, including a 10 p.m. curfew for indoor dining and bars.
