MILLBURN, N.J. (WCBS 880) — A New Jersey school district is mourning the loss of a former Board of Education member who was killed in a car crash over the weekend.

Danielle Prieto, 53, her husband Alfred, 57, and their son Antonio were killed in the crash, according to the Millburn School District.
Officials from the school district did not say where the accident occurred, just that it was on a highway.
Millburn School Superintendent Dr. Christine Burton, in a statement, said Prieto was a dedicated educator who will be greatly missed.
“Danielle cared so much for students, teachers and the district in her service on the board and the many projects for which she advocated,” she said. “She had a generous heart that was reflected through her volunteerism and her donations to the district.”
Burton noted that Prieto and her husband are survived by their two sons, Alec and Roberto.
Grief counselors are scheduled to arrive at Millburn schools throughout the week to offer support to those who need it, according to NJ.com.
Prieto served on the school board from 2018 to 2021 after retiring from the financial industry, according to TAPinto Millburn/Short Hills.
She did not seek re-election in November, NJ.com reported.
