CAPE MAY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — The Cape May County Zoo’s resident capybaras recently welcomed two new additions to the family earlier this month.

The pups are the second litter born to parents Mikey and Budette in just a few months and currently weigh about 4 pounds each, the zoo announced.
Capybaras are the world’s largest rodent and the zoo said the 4-pound pups will eventually grow to be over 100 pounds.
Mom is keeping her babies close to her so the zookeepers are unsure of the pups' genders.
"The pups are currently off exhibit in the capybara barn, but will get to go out to explore once the weather warms up consistently" the zoo said.
Known for being skilled swimmers, a normal diet for a capybara includes grass, melons and squash.
The capybara pups are the latest of the newly-born animals the zoo welcomed. Last summer, two cotton-top tamarins, which are a critically endangered species of small primate, were born at the zoo.
