NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- President Trump has begun Remdesivir treatment at Maryland's Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, White House physician Dr. Sean Conley announced in a memo Friday night.

Dr. Conley wrote that the president "is doing very well. He is not requiring supplemental oxygen, but in consultation with specialists we have elected to initiate Remdesivir. He completed his first dose and is resting comfortably."

Earlier in the evening, CNN's Jim Acosta tweeted, "Trump adviser said there is reason for concern about Trump's health tonight. 'This is serious,' the source said. The source went on to describe Trump as very tired, very fatigued, and having some trouble breathing. WH officials continue to say Trump will be fine. WH officials continue to say Trump will be fine."

A Senior Administration Official, though, told Fox News the claim about his breathing is false and "downright disgraceful."

Trump was transferred earlier in the evening to a military hospital “out of an abundance of caution” after testing positive for COVID-19, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Friday evening.

The president, who was wearing a mask, gave a thumbs up to reporters as he walked from the White House to a Marine One helicopter bound for Walter Reed National Military Medical Center around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, photos show.

In a video message posted to Twitter moments later, Trump said he thought he was "doing very well."

“I want to thank everybody for the tremendous support," he said in the video. "I’m going to Walter Reed Hospital. I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out. The First Lady is doing very well. So thank you very much, I appreciate it. I will never forget it.”

“President Trump remains in good spirits, has mild symptoms and has been working throughout the day,” McEnany said in a statement, noting that he would "work from the presidential offices at Walter Reed for the next few days."

“President Trump appreciates the outpouring of support for both he and the First Lady,” she added.

In a tweet posted shortly after McEnany released her statement, presidential candidate Joe Biden called for unity.

“This cannot be a partisan moment. It must be an American moment,” he wrote. “We have to come together as a nation.”

Trump's son Eric and daughter Ivanka, meanwhile, both called their father a "warrior."

“(Trump) is a true warrior. He will fight through this with the same strength and conviction that he uses to fight for America each and every day,” Eric Trump wrote on Twitter. “I ask you to join me in praying for his recovery.”

“I have never been more proud of someone and what they have had to endure,” he added.

"You are a warrior and will beat this," Ivanka Trump said in her own tweet. "I love you dad."

The Physician to the President, Sean Conley, on Friday afternoon said Trump was "fatigued but in good spirits” after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Conley said Trump was “being evaluated by a team of experts” who would be “making recommendations to the President and First Lady in regards to next best steps.”

“First Lady Melania Trump remains well with only a mild cough and headache, and the remainder of the First Family are well and tested negative for SARS-CoV-2,” Conley said.

Trump “received a single 8 gram dose of Regeneron’s polyclonal antibody cocktail” and “completed the infusion without incident,” he added.

The “cocktail” is an “experimental” treatment, the Associated Press reported.

Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for COVID-19 Thursday evening, the president tweeted early Friday morning.

Speaking with reporters Friday afternoon, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Trump was still working, making calls to politicians including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“He’s hard at work despite the mild symptoms,” she said.

Asked why Trump attended a fundraiser at his golf club in Bedminster on Thursday, even after his senior adviser Hope Hicks, who also tested positive for COVID-19, started showing symptoms, McEnany said it was “deemed safe” by “White House operations,” without elaborating.
