Manuel Figueiredo, the mayor of Union Township, told TMZ that the city is considering the ways it could honor Liotta, who was born in Newark but raised in Union Township.

Liotta was inducted into the Union High School Hall of Fame in 1993,

One idea being bounced around, Figueiredo said, takes a cue from Liotta's role as baseball player Shoeless Joe Jackson in the 1989's "Field of Dreams" opposite Kevin Costner: To name a local baseball field that's used for youth sports after Liotta.

Liotta was adopted, and his mom was a township clerk and his dad owned an auto part store.
