NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An Upstate man is the latest New York resident to be arrested in connection with January's riot at the U.S. Capitol, the FBI said Friday.
Eric Bochene, of New Hartford, was arrested by the FBI's Albany field office on Thursday, authorities said.
"As with many of these Capitol violence arrests, the assistance from the public has been paramount in ensuring justice is served," special agent in charge Thomas Relford said in a statement announcing the arrest.
The 49-year-old faces misdemeanor charges of unlawfully entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds and violent entry disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to Syracuse.com.
Bochene was interviewed by investigators earlier this week following several tips, including by someone who claimed he'd bragged about being inside the Capitol and another who identified him in a photo taken inside the building during the siege, prosecutors said.
Bochene allegedly identified himself as the man in the photo, according to the report.
Bochene is the latest person from the Tri-State to be arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 riot.
Residents of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have been among the more than 400 people charged for taking part in the riot, according to authorities.
