NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The host for New York’s Mega Millions lottery, read the wrong winning numbers on air for Tuesday’s $86 million jackpot, leaving officials scrambling to correct the error.
The lottery temporarily suspended all payments and asked players to hold onto their May 10 tickets as officials scramble to rectify the error. Host John Crow mistakenly called the gold Mega Ball as 6 when it was actually a 9.
"Following the May 10, 2022 Mega Millions drawing, human error resulted in the incorrect input of the winning numbers in New York State, resulting in an incorrect publishing of the Mega Ball number," New York Lottery said in a statement.
"The New York Lottery is actively working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible," the statement continued. "The Lottery has temporarily suspended prize payments for all Mega Millions tickets and all Mega Millions players should hold on to their tickets for the May 10, 2022 drawing until the issue is resolved."
The correct numbers are 15-19-20-61-70 and Mega Ball 9.
