MINEOLA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) -- Authorities arrested a Long Island exterminator accused of placing a bucket with a camera next to woman's bed on Thursday.

According to detectives, a 19-year-old woman hired Joroba Pest Control to exterminate her apartment in Mineola.


While the service technician was spraying her home, some of the chemicals got on the victim.

The technician advised the victim to change her clothing as the substance is poisonous and harmful.

The victim immediately changed her clothes but noticed a cellphone actively recording in a bucket with a hole on the victim's bed and immediately called 911.

After a thorough investigation was conducted, Walter Rivas, 45, was arrested and charged with unlawful surveillance.

Rivas will be arraigned on Friday.
