NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The Nassau Coliseum will reserve 50% of its space for vaccinated fans during the New York Islanders playoff games, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday.
Fans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will receive assigned seats in the reserved section and be spaced three feet apart from other attendees, Cuomo said in a press release.
Attendees will have to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated, the release said.
Children under the age of 16 who are not eligible for a vaccine will still be allowed to attend and sit in the vaccinated section alongside fully-vaccinated adults, but must present proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test, the release noted.
All attendees will be required to wear face coverings, the release added.
"The arrows are all pointed in the right direction, and we can now take yet another huge step forward and allow fully vaccinated fan sections to end the Islanders' last season at the Coliseum," Cuomo said in a statement.
"The Islanders have always been Long Island's team, and this new measure to increase capacity will allow more of the team's passionate fan base to enjoy the final games at the Coliseum and help reenergize the team as they head into the playoffs," he added.
