Strong Island Animal Rescue League said its members went nearly an hour to save the raccoon after “dozens” of other groups couldn’t help.

The video starts with the raccoon being kept in place for the rescue under a plastic container at a Cutchogue home.

The Strong Island worker grabs the furry creature by its head and was quickly able to pull the jar off its head before the raccoon scampers back into the wild.

“Please recycle your garbage properly people, it can save a life!” the organization said in a Facebook post. “Crush cans, cut up six-pack rings, get locking garbage pail lids! This raccoon got lucky tonight.”

President Frankie Floridia said on the organization’s website that they focus on “outreach offering food, vaccines and proper shelters, answering local calls regarding injured, abused and neglected animals, and being a strong presence of education amongst people of all ages regarding animal cruelty laws.”

The rescue group has been known for its many viral videos of rescues all across Long Island.
