NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A trio of police officers rescued a soaked, distraught kitten from a storm drain on Long Island over the weekend, authorities said.

A 911 caller heard the feline mewing inside a drain in Bay Shore just before 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Suffolk County police said Monday.

Suffolk County Police Officers Juan Echeverry, Victoria Funez and Sergeant Phil Dluginski managed to use crowbars to foist the cover off of the drain before fishing the kitten out with a net, a video posted to the department’s Facebook page shows.

“They say cats have nine lives, but this cat has one more, thanks to Suffolk County Police officers who rescued the mischievous feline from a storm drain in Bay Shore,” the department wrote.

“It turned out to be a lucky day for this fur baby, because a nearby resident decided to give this baby a forever home,” the department added.
