NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A Brooklyn woman was arrested and charged with assault on Saturday for allegedly biting and headbutting a police officer who was helping an injured person at a Long Island bar, authorities said.

Celeste Rodriguez, 27, of Bushwick, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault second-degree obstructing governmental administration on Saturday night, Nassau County police said Sunday.

Officers responding to a 911 call found an injured female, whose age wasn't released, at Cooper Bluff, a waterfront bar in Oyster Bay, around 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, police said.

When the officers started trying to help the woman, Rodriguez got upset and started punching, kicking, headbutting and biting one of the officers, according to police.

The officers arrested Rodriguez after a "brief struggle," the department said. The officer Rodriguez allegedly attacked was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said Rodriguez was an "acquaintance" of the injured female, without providing additional details.

Rodriguez was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday. Her attorney information wasn't immediately available.
