Teens charged in string of cell phone shop burglaries on LI: police

DEER PARK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A group of teens has been arrested in Suffolk County in connection with multiple burglaries over the last week.

According to police, officers caught up with the four teenagers after being called to a cell phone repair shop on Deer Park Avenue in Babylon on Aug. 21 just before 5 a.m.

Authorities said the report noted a group of teens had attempted to break into the shop, but when officers arrived, the teens had dispersed.

Officers canvased the area and found a 2011 Hyundai Tucson entering a parking lot on Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park. The vehicle was occupied by four teenagers and officers said they saw a brick, multiple cell phones and boxes inside the car.

The four occupants – Te’sean Henry, 18, of Wyandanch, two 16-year-old males from Wyandanch and a 15-year-old male from Liberty – were then arrested.

Henry was charged with four counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The other teenagers were charged with two counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

An investigation found that the teens had broken into four other cell phone repair shops between Aug. 18 and Aug. 21 in North Babylon, Lake Ronkonkoma, Huntington Station and Copiague.

Police did not disclose the total value of stolen items.
