NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- High humidity continued to push the heat index into the 90s and towards 100 degrees in NYC on Friday, with more sultry weather forecasted for the first weekend in August.
Highs were set to be in the upper 90s on Friday across the city, but it will feel around 100 by afternoon, according to AccuWeather. North Jersey may see a heat index of nearly 105.
The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory that will remain in effect for much of the Tri-State, including NYC, through Saturday night.

Highs in the five boroughs will be about 88 on Saturday and 90 on Sunday, but the humidity will continue to push the heat index well into the 90s.
The hot and steamy weather will come with the threat of late-day, heavy thunderstorms on Friday and Saturday.
It’s looking hot next week too, with highs around 90 on Monday and Tuesday, though the humidity may let up a bit.
NYC has opened hundreds of cooling centers across the five boroughs. People can find cooling centers at finder.nyc.gov/coolingcenters or by calling 311. The city's roughly 50 outdoor pools are free and open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Public beaches are free and open daily, with lifeguards on duty from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
