NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Forget the haunted house, let's hit the beach!

This week’s chilly temps—the first of the fall season in New York City—will be replaced by much warmer weather starting Friday and lasting into next week.

The milder temps were already creeping into the boroughs on Friday, when the high was set to be 68 degrees in Midtown under sunny skies.

The warmup will continue Saturday and Sunday, with highs reaching 72 and 75, respectively.

It will be sunny all weekend—sunshine that will carry over to Monday, when the high is expected to reach a balmy 79 in the city.

Highs should stick to the mid-70s on Monday and Tuesday but will begin their fall back to more seasonable temps—in the low the 60s and upper 50s—by the end of the week.

The mild forecast comes amid incredibly dry weather along the East Coast in recent weeks. Indeed, NYC only saw 23% of its historical average for rainfall between Aug. 20 and Oct. 16. And it could be weeks more before substantial rain arrives, according to AccuWeather.
