NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Thursday is the third and (thankfully) final day of the Tri-State’s three-day heat wave—but the scorching temps could be traded for a near-washout of a weekend.
A heat advisory was extended again—until Friday evening—for all of New York City. Heat advisories are also in effect for North Jersey, most of Long Island, Westchester, the Lower Hudson Valley and southwestern Connecticut.
Temps of 90-plus degrees have gripped the area since Tuesday. The high reached 93 in Central Park by Thursday afternoon. The hellish humidity helped push RealFeels over 100, according to AccuWeather.

Thursday's early sunshine will give way to showers and thunderstorms by the evening. The storms could be violent at times and produce damaging wind gusts and flooding downpours.
It will be an uncomfortably warm and humid Thursday night. And while highs will cool slightly Friday to around 87 in Central Park, the muggy conditions will remain. Expect RealFeels in the mid-90s.

Rounds of thunderstorms will roll back in on Friday afternoon, bringing with them more heavy downpours and strong winds.
The storm threat will continue into the weekend. It probably won’t be a total washout, but prepare for stretches of rain and storms on both Saturday and Sunday.
The weekend is otherwise very humid and mostly cloudy. Highs will be 82 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday.
