NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The weather will be warm and pleasant—by December standards—on Friday and Saturday, but a major storm is on the horizon, with wet and windy weather in the forecast Sunday into Monday, just as early holiday travel begins.
With a little over a week to go until Christmas, Friday's weather is downright balmy. The high is set to be a mild 55 degrees in Central Park, according to AccuWeather. It's otherwise sunny and breezy.
Saturday will be another nice day; expect a mix of sun and clouds, and a high of about 52 in Manhattan. Highs will be in the 40s towards the Hudson Valley.

Sunday will start cloudy and mild with a drizzle, but conditions will grow windier and rainier by afternoon. While the high will be 52, the soaking rain and whipping winds will make it unpleasant outside.
The wind and rain will likely become heavy at times Sunday night into Monday morning. Several inches of rain is possible, bringing a risk of flooding and travel disruptions. Wind gusts could top 50 mph further out on Long Island.

The rain will taper off by Monday afternoon, but it may stay windy. It will remain mild, with a high of 57.
According to AccuWeather, this storm is "rocketing up" the East Coast from Florida "along a path that is typical of storms during the winter months but carrying an amount of moisture usually seen during the summer."

The storm will be similar to the one that brought several inches of rain and near-50 mph wind gusts to the city last Sunday.
After the storm moves out Monday, conditions will grow increasingly colder next week. Highs will be in the low or mid 40s most days, but it will be dry all the way into Christmas weekend.
