NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Unseasonably warm temperatures are set to break heat records in New York City this week, with highs of nearly 90 degrees in the forecast.
The warmup was well underway on Monday, when the high was set to be 77 in Central Park under partly sunny skies. There’s a chance showers will pop up in spots, according to AccuWeather.
Highs will march further upward on Tuesday to around 82 in the city. It'll be partly sunny, but an afternoon thunderstorm can't be ruled out.

Wednesday will likely be the hottest day of the week—hot enough to break a more than 80-year record.
The expected high of 88 would topple the record high of 87, set 85 years ago on April 15, 1941.
Temps will stick to the 80s on Thursday, with a high of about 86 in the city, before cooling to the 70s on Friday and the upper 60s over the weekend, AccuWeather said.
