NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Unseasonable heat on Wednesday is expected to smash an 85-year-old record high for New York City.
A high near 90 degrees would break the previous record of 87, set on April 15, 1941, according to AccuWeather. To add to the summery feel, a heavy thunderstorm is possible in the afternoon or evening.
Tuesday was the warmest day of the year so far, with a high of 87 recorded in Central Park.
The highs are nearly 30 degrees above normal for this time of year.

The blast of heat will continue Thursday, when the high is forecasted to reach 88 again.
Temps will begin to cool going into the weekend. Friday’s high is 80, while Saturday’s is 67.
