NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Unseasonable heat on Wednesday smashed an 85-year-old record high for New York City.
The temperature reached 88 degrees around 4 p.m. in Central Park, breaking the previous record of 87, set on April 15, 1941, according to AccuWeather.
Highs this week are nearly 30 degrees above normal for mid-April. Tuesday's high was 87.

The blast of heat will continue on Thursday, when the high is forecasted to reach about 89.
Temps will begin to cool going into the weekend. Friday’s high is set to be 80 and Saturday’s, 67.
