NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Another round of snow is in the forecast for Friday as dangerous cold continues to grip the New York City area, forecasters said Wednesday.

Friday's storm will likely be similar to the snowstorm Tuesday that dropped several inches on the metro area and broke New York City's record 701-day streak without an inch of snow, according to AccuWeather. It wasn't a major storm, but the 1.7 inches recorded in Central Park was enough to break the snow drought.

Bitter cold moved in after the snow, leading to widespread icing Tuesday night as RealFeels plunged into the single digits in the city.

Wednesday wasn’t much warmer with a high of 27 and RealFeels in the teens. It will remain bitterly cold overnight as temps dip to the low 20s and RealFeels plunge further.

While Wednesday is dry, flurries are in the forecast for Thursday afternoon, especially north of city, before heavier snow arrives. The high will be 35.

The snowstorm will move in very late Thursday into Friday, bringing a general 1 to 3 inches of snow to New York City as highs hover around freezing. Untreated roads and sidewalks will turn icy.
