NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- The threat of thunderstorms will pop up in the New York City area throughout the week, with heavier storms in the forecast Tuesday night and again on Thursday.
The stormy stretch comes as muggy weather engulfs the city—though temperatures will stay relatively mild compared to the back-to-back heat waves that ended last week.
Tuesday will be warm, humid and mostly cloudy with a shower or thunderstorm during the day, according to AccuWeather. The high will be 86 degrees.

Showers and heavier thunderstorms will arrive Tuesday night. Downpours may be strong enough to reduce visibility for drivers and flood roadways.
Wednesday will be much of the same—humid and cloudy with storms around in the afternoon and night. The high will be 81.
The humid, cloudy weather will continue Thursday, with more showers and thunderstorms in the area throughout the day. Storms may bring flooding downpours and damaging wind gusts. The high will be 85.

Conditions turn more pleasant by Friday, which is forecasted to be mostly sunny and less humid with a high of 84.
The sunny and warm weather is set to continue into the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 80s on both Saturday and Sunday.
