NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms will bring much needed rain to the New York City area Monday, as well as the risk of flooding in some spots.
On-and-off downpours of varying intensity are expected throughout the day and into the evening. It's otherwise humid and cloudy Monday with a high of 77 degrees.
Some of the rain may be heavy enough to cause problems, and areas with poor drainage could see flooding. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of New Jersey.

The wet weather threatens a rainout at the first game of the Subway Series in the Bronx on Monday evening.
It will be mainly cloudy overnight with lows in the 70s.
Tuesday is a little stickier and hotter as highs reach the mid-80s with RealFeel temps around 90.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast again Tuesday before conditions dry out mid-week.
The rain is needed, as most of the Tri-State area is experiencing abnormally dry conditions or a drought.
Temps continue to heat up later this week, with highs reaching the upper 80s on a mostly sunny Wednesday and Thursday before another storm arrives Friday.
