WEATHER: Friday storms will clear for a beautiful summer weekend

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Thunder rumbled across the New York City area on Friday morning, kicking off a day of scattered storms that could be heavy at times.

A couple of rounds of storms are in the forecast before conditions stabilize going into the weekend, according to AccuWeather. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook until Friday night.


Flooding downpours and damaging winds are possible throughout the day as it remains uncomfortably humid with a high of 79 in the city.

A shower or thunderstorm may linger into Friday night before the unsettled weather moves out. The low will be 69.

Saturday is set to be partly sunny and warm. It'll be a bit less humid with a high of 85.

It's even less humid on Sunday under mostly sunny skies. The high will be 86.

However, the humidity begins to return on Monday, as does the chance of storms, especially in the late afternoon and evening. It's otherwise partly sunny with a high of 86.
