NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City is set to see its first real snow of the season this weekend, with up to 3 inches in the forecast for the boroughs.
The quick-hitting storm system will pass to the south of NYC on Saturday night, likely arriving between 9 p.m. and midnight.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of NYC and Long Island, as well as parts of New Jersey from 10 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday.
A total of 1 to 3 inches of snow is expected by early Sunday morning, according to AccuWeather.
The NWS has forecasted about 2 inches in NYC, with higher amounts of 3 to 4 inches for Long Island and the Jersey Shore.
The storm should move out just as quickly as it arrived around sunrise on Sunday, though travel may remain slippery through the morning.
After the storm passes, Sunday will remain very cold. While highs are near 40 degrees on Friday and Saturday, Sunday’s high will be just 30, with wind chills in the teens and 20s.
The cold is expected to drag into Monday and Tuesday before temps start to rise midweek. Highs will be near 40 on Wednesday and up to 50 on Thursday, according to AccuWeather.
