With multiple teams across the NBA dealing with multiple players in COVID-19 protocols, the Nets are now joining that unfortunate list.

The team announced Tuesday that four new players are entering the league’s health and safety protocols, as LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre’ Bembry, Jevon Carter and James Johnson will all be out for Tuesday night’s game against the Raptors, joining Paul Millsap, who entered the protocol on Monday.

Aldridge is averaging 14 points and 5.7 rebounds per game in 23.6 minutes so far this season, while Bembry has made 11 starts and appeared in 26 games, averaging 19.6 minutes, 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest. Carter is averaging 11.7 minutes per game and has made one start, while Johnson has made two starts and appeared in 18 games.

Per the NBA’s health and safety protocols, players must wait 10 days before returning to basketball activities unless they are able to register two negative PCR tests within 24 hours of each other. All four players could wind up missing as many as five games, as the Nets play five times between Tuesday and Dec. 23, starting with Toronto on Tuesday night in Brooklyn.

The situation unfolding in Brooklyn is unfortunately not an isolated incident across the NBA, as the Bulls had their next two games postponed this week due to 10 players in health and safety protocols, while the Knicks have three players out for the same reason.
