Dalvin Cook hinted to reporters on Thursday that he will ask for a trade, but Boomer says the Jets shouldn’t grant that wish, and need the Pro Bowler as an insurance policy given the nature of the running back position.

“You need as many running backs as you can have,” Boomer said. “There’s 11 games left. That’s a gauntlet, man. That’s a gauntlet in the NFL, and you need to have as many running backs as you can, because if something happens to Breece Hall, then what?”

Cook isn’t happy with his limited role, but given his contract and the current upward trajectory of the team, Gio believes he should keep quiet about his frustrations and contribute in any way he can.

“This sounds like a really selfish move by him,” Gio said. “Think about where the Jets are right now. They’re 3-3, coming off a win over the Eagles, heading into a game where they are favored, and the AFC…it feels like it’s wide open.

“Yeah, he isn’t the top running back, but he’s here, he can contribute…do whatever you can to help this team win.”
