The Knicks officially announced the signing of Ryan Arcidiacono to a 10-day contract on Thursday morning, then promptly listed him as out for Thursday night’s game against the Celtics due to an ankle sprain.
Reports indicate that New York could wind up keeping the Villanova product for the remainder of the season, which would make the signing more understandable given his injury. If he was kept around for just the 10 days of his initial deal, he could wind up not seeing any time due to the sprained ankle.

This was the Knicks’ second attempt to sign Arcidiacono, but the first time was voided due to the Knicks only having two players in health and safety protocols, making the team ineligible for a 10-day hardship signing.
Arcidiacono averaged 4.8 points and 2.2 assists over four seasons with the Bulls, and was with the G League affiliate of the Celtics for six games this season.
In addition to Arcidiacono being ruled out for Thursday’s game, Kemba Walker is also listed out as he continues to rest his sore knee. Nerlens Noel, still getting his conditioning back after his stay in COVID protocol, is listed as questionable.
