When you’ve already had six games suspended or postponed over the first two weeks of the season, you have to find a way to stay entertained.
That’s what the Mets were doing after Thursday’s rainout.
New York’s matinee with the Phillies was rained out on Thursday, an all-too familiar sight with the Mets, but with the tarp blanketing the infield dirt at Citi Field, Tomas Nido decided to have some fun and turn the field into his own slip-and-slide.
Nido posting a video to his Twitter of himself running from center field and diving headfirst into the wet tarp, sliding onto the tarp and going for a ride.
According to Nido’s caption, Jacob deGrom bet that he wouldn’t go for the plunge. Turns out it didn’t take much convincing.
The Mets game was rescheduled to June 25.
