Two classic albums released 30 years ago

Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers First Big Successes

Vinyl Record with reflection

Aside from making us feel really old--it seems kinda crazy that these 2 albums came out on the same day.
Red Hot Chili Peppers "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" and Nirvana's "Nevermind" were both released on September 24th, 1991.
But Madison had already been exposed to both bands!
In 1989, the Chili Peppers played the Barrymore Theater, and in '91, weeks after the album was released, they played the Madison Civic Center. At the Barrymore show, they didn't give us a hint of any of the 1991 albums songs, but they did play a song called "Nevermind"! Here's the setlist.
And before Nirvana released "Nevermind," they played the O'Cayz Corral and went shopping on State Street. And they worked with producer Butch Vig at Smart Studios on East Washington Avenue!
