Dad deserves to be pampered too.
Father’s Day may look a little different this year, but there are still some surefire ways to bond with dad and make him feel special.
Some of the best activities you can do come June 21 are the ones that will allow pops to relax and do something he may not usually have time for.
You got your awesome gifts and your playlist together. Now here are a few activities that will keep dad busy while you celebrate Father’s Day at home.
Grill out in the backyard
Getty ImagesAs it falls on the tail end of June, the fatherly holiday lends itself great to grilling out back. Keep dad some company while he mans the grill and gets everyone’s burgers ready. Help out where you can but let him do the fun part of actually cooking. After all, the day is all about him.
Watch a sports movie
Getty ImagesIs your dad a sports junkie? Your old man may want nothing more on Father’s Day than to hit the couch and enjoy a dramatized retelling of his favorite sports tale. Pull up a classic documentary or film on Netflix, or if he’s willing to go a little more new school, watch one of these newer classics from the 2010s.
Enjoy a family game night
Getty ImagesNothing beats a good old-fashioned family game night. Witness dad’s competitive side come alive over the family’s board game of choice.
Help dad with his hobby
Getty ImagesA great way to bond with dad is participating in whatever his favorite hobby is. Help him saw the food for that lazy Susan that mom’s been asking for, or hand him the wrench while he’s tinkering on that roadster that’s been sitting in the garage for months. He’ll appreciate the help, and will love telling you more than you’ve ever wanted to know about the intricacies of a car engine.
Have a beer tasting at home
Getty ImagesWhether he’s a brew aficionado or just needs to branch out, having a beer tasting at home is a great way to learn about what dad likes to sip on. Order a bunch of craft beers and see which hoppy or fruity notes pops is picking up on with each sip.
Run an obstacle course
Getty ImagesIf your family is active but insistent on staying home this year, create an obstacle course in your house. You can get as ridiculous as you like, incorporating patio furniture, bikes, skateboard and a baseball bat to spin around.
