This is one furry surprise.

An Atlanta-area woman woke up a little differently than usual on Wednesday after she opened her eyes and found a serval cat laying in her bed, according to WXIA.

Kristine Frank, the woman who was in bed with the African native feline, became the unfortunate napping partner of the animal when her husband got up before her to let their dog out. She was lying in bed alone, or so she thought, when the woman felt something move.

This startled Frank, and she immediately woke up to find the large cat lying in bed with her. She said that the cat was more than two feet long with pointy ears and spots. This was increasingly strange as she had never seen anything like the animal in more than eight years of living in the area.

"I look at the cat, and I know immediately that is not a normal house cat. It did not look like a pet. It looked like a wild animal," Frank said to WXIA.

After she noticed the beast jumped out of her bed and fled to a different part of the room. Frank called out to her husband, "Dave, that is not a cat!"

With the serval cornered across the room, her husband locked eyes with the furry feline while Frank could escape out of the room, and the animal was forced out of the house.

Now, after the encounter, Frank is left pondering, "what if?"

"I just think if my dog would have been in the house, what would have happened to my dog?" she said. "If I had small children, what would have happened to them?"

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has identified the animal as a serval, which can grow up to two feet and 40 pounds.

WXIA spoke with the Animal Legal Defense, who told them that someone could be keeping the serval as an illegal house pet, as they are not from the area.
