We packed SpaceBaby into the car and made the trek down into the city from Snohomish for a fun time at the Woodland Park Zoo. I have mixed feelings about zoos because one look at any of the giant kitties pacing their habitats is quite sad, but seeing the animals from the books brings a certain kind of joy to a toddler's life while being a great opportunity to learn from the dozens of staff and volunteers.
SB is pretty little still, he won't be two until summer, so we have limited adventure time before he needs a nap/poop/reboot. My only two requirements for this visit: show him the flamingos and the giraffes - oddly, they are both built from similar features.
Our final stop of the day, we were super lucky to show up around giraffe lunchtime when a couple of these wonderful land-dragons were out munching leaves. Woodland Park Zoo makes it pretty difficult to get a good photograph of our African friends, and just as I uttered aloud "you're not gonna get anything, just enjoy the moment" the tallest of the giraffes hanging out in the sunshine, Dave, sauntered on over for a bit of branch at the front of their small enclosure.
A zoo person with leaves then appeared as did the awesome gross long purple tongue to snatch em right up.

Bonus giraffes fact: Giraffes love a good photobomb
