The show must go on.

The 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards are happening — even if they will look different than ever before.

Like much of the biggest events in entertainment, there are still many unknown variables around the 2020 Emmys.

But this year's awards have a host, a set air date, and a virtual program that have adjusted, like other awards shows this season, to the pandemic.

Here’s what we know so far about this year’s biggest night in television.

When are the 2020 Emmys happening?

The 2020 Emmys are set to air on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8/7c on ABC. In late July, it was announced that the award show is going virtual, and will not be taking place at the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles where it is usually held.

Where can you watch the 2020 Emmys?

This year’s event is airing on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

The show can be streamed using your pay-TV provider to access abc.com or the ABC app.

Viewers can also view the ceremony through select streaming services such as Hulu + Live TV, Fubo TV, YouTube TV and AT&T TV.

Don't have cable and refuse to stream? You can still watch the show on ABC on your television with an over-the-air TV antenna.

Who are this year’s nominees?

Streaming reigns supreme for this year's nominations — a theme that has been common in award shows of recent years. Netflix leads the pack for this year's awards with 160 nominations, scoring nods for series and specials including “Ozark,” “The Crown” “Unbelievable,” “Unorthodox,” “Nailed It,” “Dead to Me” and “The Kominsky Method.”

Who is hosting this year’s show?

On June 16, it was announced that Jimmy Kimmel would host this year’s Emmys. This will be Kimmel’s third time hosting, after previously hosting the show in 2012 and again in 2016. It will also be the Emmys returning to the classic format after going host-less in 2019.

Will there be a red carpet?

While there won't won't be a traditional red carpet, there will be a pre-show.

"Countdown to the Emmys" will air before the show on streaming news channel ABC News live. The coverage will air before the show on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 6:30pm ET - 8pm ET.

According to an ABC press release, it will feature live interviews with nominees, showcase the most diverse group of nominees ever, predict who will win and who might surprise during the ceremony, spotlight the unprecedented year for TV production and revisit some of the greatest fashion to grace Emmys red carpets of the past, along with a glimpse at this year’s “couch couture.”

The 2020 Emmy Awards air Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8pm ET on ABC. Follow live coverage the night of the event on RADIO.COM.
