Beck Teams Up With NASA to Pair 'Hyperspace' With New Celestial Images

A new expression from the eclectic artist

Beck hopes to bring fans closer to the unknown depths of space, announcing a collaborative new visual album counterpart to 2019’s Hyperspace.

Hyperspace: A.I. Experience syncs Beck’s angelic soundscapes with NASA’s bit map visual images of planets and stars alike. “Explore each song from the album paired with an iconic NASA mission, re-lived and made hyper-real through revolutionary AI techniques and reshaped by the data, creating never seen before visuals,” the artist and NASA said in a statemet. “After training on hundreds of thousands of images, videos and data points from NASA’s space exploration research and missions, the Hyperspace A.I. then began creating its own visions of our universe.”

The Hyperspace tracks are linked with images from specific missions. Each video oozes with celestial style and color bursts that draw a greater meaning synced with the music. The track “Die Waiting” uses footage of the sun gesticulating into generous curves, producing a warm glow that complements the track’s bouncy nature.

“Chemical” uses transformed AI images of Saturn to express depth, space and loneliness. The video depicts an errant space craft floating as a lone flake among the planet’s immense size and bruiting rings. Each video is the epitome of Beck’s creative juices mixed with 2001: A Space Odyssey to create the perfect cosmic cocktail.

The artist paired the video’s release announcing a deluxe reissue of Hyperspace, due out December 4.
