Coldplay has released their new, Ralph Macchio-starring music video for "The Karate Kid," from the band's 20-song expanded (Full Moon Edition) of 2024's MOON MUSIC.

Coldplay has offered up a brand new music video for their MOON MUSIC (Full Moon Edition) track "The Karate Kid," which lands at spot 13 in the expanded edition's 20-song list. Even better, the music video for the single stars actor Ralph Macchio, best known for playing the iconic role of Daniel LaRusso in three Karate Kid flicks (1984’s ‘The Karate Kid’, and its sequels, 1986’s ‘The Karate Kid Part II’, and 1989’s ‘The Karate Kid Part III,’ as well as in the current 'Cobra Kai' series on YouTube Premium and Netflix.
In the clip, Macchio stars as a lucky busker who receives a ticket to see Coldplay perform, and is eventually invited up on stage to sing when frontman Chris Martin is unable to. Side note: The band actually live-teased the video during a concert in Australia in October, where Macchio made an appearance after being invited on stage.
“When Chris Martin pops up on your FaceTime asking you to help create a video to accompany what I found to be a beautifully emotional and poignant song – one inspired by a film I made over 40 years ago – there was only one answer,” said Macchio in a press release. “Having the opportunity to join Coldplay in Australia at one of their legendary live shows to collaborate on this music video was nothing short of a career highlight. The synergy with Chris, the band and our director Chris Candy was as pure as any I’ve experienced. I’m excited to share this with the world.”
