Linkin Park is set to drop “Heavy Is The Crown” on September 24 at 8AM PT as the second single off of their first new full-length in seven years, FROM ZERO. Though scheduled for release in mid-November, the band is keeping up their multimedia blitz by including the track in the League of Legends World Championship, scheduled between September 23 and November 2,
The new song follows the first offering, “The Emptiness Machine,” which formally introduced newly added band members Emily Armstrong on vocals, and drummer Colin Brittain at the beginning of the month.

During their set, LP's Mike Shinoda told the crowd the anthemic single would be used during the upcoming eSports event. “It’s been an amazing experience partnering with Riot to bring this anthem to the global League of Legends community,” Shinoda said. “The song is a real highlight of this new era for us, harnessing our signature sound and infusing it with fresh energy. We’re so excited for players and fans to experience this!"
According to Maria Egan, Global Head of Music at Riot Games, “The Worlds anthem is the music moment that League players look forward to the most each year, and it has become a highly coveted fixture in music across the world. As the band embarks on this exciting new chapter, we’re honoured to partner with them for the 2024 anthem,” she says. “The lyrics for Heavy Is The Crown perfectly capture the narrative for this year’s Worlds and they are a powerful companion to the themes of our music video.”
Linkin Park's FROM ZERO is set for release on November 15.
Mike Shinoda firmly believes the best is yet to come in this new Linkin Park era. “The best thing for people who have such a strong connection to [late-frontman] Chester [Bennington] to know,” he told us, “is that Chester was a one-of-a-kind person and a one-of-a-kind-voice and Emily is also a one-of-a-kind-person and a one-of-a-kind voice. She's not trying to be him. She's trying to be her, and it so happens that I think she, singing on these songs, sounds like Linkin Park.”
