Mayim Bialik is really thrilled about her new “Jeopardy!” hosting gig.
The “Big Bang Theory” star took to social media to celebrate the Wednesday announcement that she and longtime “Jeopardy!” producer Mike Richards were named the two new hosts of the beloved game show, with Richards hosting the daily version of the series and Bialik hosting primetime and spin-off specials.
Bialik, 45, shared a post on Instagram featuring a photo of herself smiling at the game show’s podium, a selfie of herself giving a thumbs up and a screenshot of an article announcing the news.
“ITS TRUE!!! Been waiting a long time to tell you all. Really really honored and astounded and excited for this - it’s beyond anything I ever imagined could happen,” the “Blossom” vet captioned the post.
She added: “Photo credit: Jeopardy Productions, Inc. and My 15 yr old who told me I should be the host which made me call my agent @richardweitzla and bug him about it 😝”
Bialik also shared a video of herself celebrating the news, telling fans she’s “super freaked out” but “thrilled” to join the historic program.
“I’m hosting Jeopardy!” she captioned the three-minute video, adding, “And #1 trending on Twitter !? What!?!?!”
She also released a formal statement celebrating the announcement.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join the Jeopardy! family,” the actress said, per TODAY. “What started out with my 15-year-old repeating a rumor from Instagram that I should guest host the show has turned into one of the most exciting and surreal opportunities of my life!"
Bialik and Richards, 46, were among the show’s guest hosts who filled in this year following the death of beloved late host Alex Trebek, who passed away in 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
