Mayim Bialik is hoping this isn’t her Final Jeopardy.

Since getting the “Jeopardy!” co-hosting gig with Ken Jennings last fall, both knew the job was a temporary set-up until a permanent host would be announced later.
Bialik has enjoyed the job and hopes to get asked back permanently.
"I would love that," she told Entertainment Tonight at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, when asked about the possibility of staying on as host in a full time capactity. “I like to say, I’ve lived season to season, since I was about 13 years old. So, what I know is what I'm doing until May 6, and beyond that, hopefully.”
The 46-year-old added, “Hopefully, I’ll know more before May 6.”
Since taking her place behind the podium, there have been a few bumps for Bialik. Notably, the seemingly unforgivable sin of calling the second round of the game "Single Jeopardy" instead of simply the "the Jeopardy round," a change that spun the show's Twitter page into a cyclone. She later apologized and swore never to call it that again.
If she does get the job, it will make history, as she would be the show’s first full time female host.
Bialik’s pride of place as a host of such an iconic game show goes even farther.
“I think being a female is its own mark,” she added. “My grandparents were immigrants to this country, so I think for me, being in two generations being a woman and a host in that iconic role blows my mind.”
Like any “Jeopardy!” fan sitting at home watching, Bialik was a huge fan of former host Alex Trebek, and was blown away when his family gave her the blessing should she be named to replace the deceased icon.
“I got to meet them when we dedicated the stage and just feel so humbled around them,” she shared. “I want to only honor. You can’t match him, so there’s no need to try, but do it continuously, and have their blessing and feel what they are doing is supporting that legacy.”
Of course if “Jeopardy!” doesn’t work out, Bialik has a lot to fall back on.
She’s been busy working on her Fox sitcom, “Call Me Kat,” now in its second season. Plus there was that “Blossom” demi-reunion on a recent episode of “Call Me Kat” that whipped up fan feels and hopes for a reboot of Bialik’s pre-teen NBC sitcom that kicked off her career.
But first thing’s first, or second. When asked about a possible upcoming third season for the network comedy, Bialik was quick to live in the moment.
“As I said,” she insisted, “I live season to season, and we do have a very big ending for season two coming up. It’s been very exciting for us.”
"Call Me Kat" airs Thursday at 9pm on Fox.
