Readin', Writin', and Reason with Dom Giordano | Episode 58

Changes to Curriculum

Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children.
This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards.

First, Dom welcomes Dr. Elana Fishbein, Founder and President of No Left Turn in Education, back to the podcast. Last week, No Left Turn in Education made news after uncovering a controversial email exchange between a teacher and counselor at the Charles F. Patton Middle School in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District, with the counselor telling a teacher about a student’s preferred pronouns, also writing that it may be best to hide this from the student’s parents. Giordano tells that this is one of many instances of this mindset of hiding gender ideology from parents, with Dr.
Fishbein telling how deep this goes. In addition, the counselor and teacher agree to encourage the student, who came out as ‘pansexual’ during a recent assignment, to launch a Middle School version of Unionville High School’s ‘Gender Sexuality Alliance’ club.

Then, Dom welcomes New Jersey State Senator Steve Oroho back onto the podcast for an update on the debate over sexual education in New Jersey. First, Oroho contextualizes the debate, telling what it is that’s being pushed by progressive New Jersey lawmakers and why Oroho has teamed up with Sen. Holly Schepisi and others to combat the curriculum.
