(610 Sports) - The Royals have signed pitcher Mike Minor to a 2-year deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. This will be Minor's second stint with the Royals, as the left-hander revived his career as a relief pitcher for the club in 2017, appearing in 65 games and striking out 88 batters in 77.2 innings, while posting a 2.55 era.
While Minor had resurrected his career as a reliever, he eventually made his way back into a starting rotation, going 12-8 in 2018 and enjoying a breakout 2019 season, in which he went 14-10 with a 3.59 era and 200 strikeouts in 32 starts, making his first All-Star team. 2020 however was a different story for the lefty, as he went 1-6 with a 5.56 ERA in 12 games, between the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics.
Minor's contract is for two years and $18 million guaranteed and includes a $13 million club option for the 2023 season with a $1 million buyout.
