(RADIO.COM Sports) While many teams in NFL free agency are making moves to improve their Super Bowl odds, the Chicago Bears managed to do quite the opposite Tuesday.
After news broke that the team agreed with quarterback Andy Dalton on a one-year deal, neither fans nor sportsbooks were impressed with the move. The Bears' odds to win the Super in the 2021 season dropped from 40-1 to 50-1 at Williams Hill following the addition of Dalton.
Dalton, 33, joins the injury-prone Nick Foles as the Bears quarterbacks on the current roster as the team has let Mitchell Trubisky, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017, enter free agency.
After starting for the Bengals for nine seasons, Dalton joined the Cowboys in 2020, backing up Dak Prescott before eventually taking over the starting role when Prescott went down with a season-ending injury in Week 5.
Dalton completed 64.9% of his passes for 2,170 yards, 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 11 games. The Cowboys went 4-5 in the nine games he started. Dalton’s numbers weren't all that different from Trubisky’s in 2020. Trubisky completed 67% of his passes for 2,055 yards, 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions and went 6-3 in his nine starts.
On the other hand, if for some reason there are Dalton believers out there, now may be a good time to wager on the 2021 Bears winning the Super Bowl.
