(670 The Score) After making significant additions on the trade market and in free agency in March, the Bears are now focused on rewarding one of their own.
As Bears nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon is set to enter the final season of his rookie contract, general manager Ryan Poles is interested in seeking an extension with him.
"That will still be a priority,” Poles told reporters Tuesday at the NFL owners meetings. “For me, in our exit meetings at the end of last season, I told all the guys in terms of future, if it was contracts, coming back, anything like that, the important thing is I’ve got to get with our new coaching staff and kind of see how the different players fit based on the scheme. We’ve been able to have those conversations, and I know Kyler is a guy that we want to be a part of this moving forward. So, the timing of that, I’m not sure how that all is going work out, but that is a priority."
Gordon, 25, was a second-round pick of the Bears in 2022. He was the first ever draft pick made by Poles, who had been on the job in Chicago for about three months when he selected him.
Gordon has played in 42 career games across three NFL seasons, logging five interceptions.
