(670 The Score) Bears great Devin Hester will have to wait for a call to the Hall.
Hester was not selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2022, which was unveiled Thursday at the NFL Honors ceremony. He was a finalist for his first year on the ballot but not selected for the eight-man class to Canton.
"This hurts for me not being a first ballot," Hester tweeted Thursday night. "I really wanted this one bad, but life goes on and hopefully it will happen someday."
A 12-year NFL veteran, Hester owns the NFL's all-time leader in return touchdowns with 20, including 14 punt return touchdowns. He was drafted by the Bears in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft, playing eight seasons for Chicago.
Hester recorded 19 of his record 20 return touchdowns with the Bears.
The Hall of Fame's eight-man class includes Tony Boselli, Cliff Branch, Leroy Butler, Art McNally, Sam Mills, Richard Seymour, Dick Vermeil and Bryant Young.
Hester will eligible for the Hall of Fame again in 2023.
