Jaylon Johnson, 3 other Bears placed on non-football injury list

(670 The Score) The Bears have placed four players on the non-football injury list to start their training camp.

Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson, quarterback Case Keenum, running back Ian Wheeler and receiver Jahdae Walker were placed on the NFI list, the team announced Saturday. They can be activated at any time.

Specifics to the players' injuries aren't yet clear, though Wheeler is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in a preseason game late last August.

Johnson earned his second career Pro Bowl nod in 2024. Has has six interceptions in the last two seasons. Johnson was present for much of the team's offseason program at Halas Hall.

Keenum, 37, signed a one-year deal with the Bears this offseason. He's competing with third-year quarterback Tyson Bagent for the team's No. 2 role behind starter Caleb Williams.

Wheeler was a standout during the Bears' training camp last year as an undrafted rookie out of Georgia Tech. Walker is an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M.

The Bears' rookies reported for training camp Saturday at Halas Hall. The team's veterans are due to report Tuesday.

The Bears will hold their first practice Wednesday morning in Lake Forest.
