(670 The Score) Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields mesmerized Chicago fans in his preseason debut Saturday afternoon – and a superstar from another sport as well.
The Lakers’ LeBron James spent at least part of his weekend afternoon watching Fields and the Bears, and he had high praise for the man being counted on to become the Bears’ franchise quarterback. James called him "special."
After a slow start, Fields was impressive, leading a pair of touchdown drives in the third quarter to rally the Bears back from a 13-0 deficit in the first half. Fields scored one touchdown with his feet, scampering eight yards to the left side after feeling pressure in the pocket. About six minutes later, he threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jesse James on a play-action pass.
In a little more than two quarters of action, Fields was 14-of-20 for 142 yards and didn’t commit a turnover, though he coughed the ball up on a scramble play in which the Bears recovered.
