(670 The Score) As former Bears star linebacker Roquan Smith prepares to make his Ravens debut Monday night, he shared a farewell message to Chicago in which he thanked fans and many others for all their support.
Smith shared appreciation for just about everyone in Chicago besides first-year Bears general manager Ryan Poles and his front office, which Smith clashed with as long-term contract extension negotiations failed, leading him to be traded to Baltimore for a pair of draft picks last week. Smith is in the final season of his rookie contract.
“Thank you to all the Bears fans worldwide for all your love and support,” Smith wrote in a message released to NFL Media reporter Ian Rapoport. “Thank you to the city of Chicago for embracing me as one of your own. Thank you to Ryan Pace and his regime for believing in me. Thank you to the McCaskey family for making my dream come true. Thank you to Dick Butkus, he knows why. Thank you to every teammate, thank you to every coach, thank you to everyone who helped me, from the trainers to the cafeteria staff, to everyone who held the standard of what being a Bear is all about.”
