Cubs acquire right-hander Carlos Guzman from Tigers in exchange for infielder Zach McKinstry

(670 The Score) The Cubs on Monday acquired right-hander Carlos Guzman from the Tigers in exchange for infielder Zach McKinstry, the team announced.

Guzman, 24, posted a 4.11 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 106 innings across 27 appearances, including 23 starts, that were split between high-A West Michigan and Double-A Erie in 2022. He struck out 90 and walked 34.

The Tigers signed Guzman as a non-drafted free agent in 2015, and he has a 3.80 ERA in his career, all of which has been spent in the minor leagues.

McKinstry, 27, hit .206 with four homers and 12 RBIs in 47 games for the Cubs in 2022 after being acquired in a midseason trade.
