Miley, 34, went 12-7 with a 3.37 ERA and 1.33 WHIP in 163 innings across 28 starts in 2021. He has a career 4.15 ERA.

“We tried to trade him the last couple of weeks and didn’t have a buyer,” Reds general manager Nick Krall told reporters, according to the Athletic.

Miley's contract carries a $10-million team option for 2022, one that still needs to be exercised. The obvious assumption is that the Cubs will pick that up and then give him the opportunity to factor into their rotation mix for 2022, as they have several spots open and up for competition.
